ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday met with a delegation of Rotary International (RI) in the account to take a firm step for the eradication of polio from Pakistan.
The RI is a humanitarian organization that also works for the eradication of polio. In the meeting, it has been briefed about the forthcoming step, which the government soon to introduce for the eradication of the polio virus.
Taking strong surveillance on Pak-Afghan cross border travelling — shall be one of them. Followed by backing strong support for institutions that are working in Pakistan against the polio virus.
The premier called eradication of polio from the country is one of the primary mottoes of the government.
While special Assistant to Premier on Health Dr Zafar Mirza also attended the meeting.

He maintained the stance and voiced that presently more than 100,000 security personnel and 250,000 polio workers are performing their duties.
Meanwhile, the KI team also met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, where the COAS appraised the role of KL in Pakistan. At that time, measures related to healthcare and the country’s battle against polio virus were also being discussed in the meeting.
Pakistan remains in the list of countries where polio virus remained, besides Afghanistan and Nigeria.
Although in 2018, only 12 polio cases emerged, drastically 2019 saw 139 cases while in the current year so far 4 cases have been documented.
